QRIS Users in Jakarta Hit 5.99 Million

The Jakarta Branch Bank Indonesia Representative Office (KPw BI) says the economic performance of Jakarta is supported by the continuously evolving digital payment ecosystem.

Deepening of digital literacy in Jakarta

This condition is reflected in the acceleration of QRIS users in the Jakarta area, reaching 5.99 million or a growth of 5 percent (year on year).

"This is driven by the optimization of the organization of strategic events and the deepening of digital literacy in Jakarta," expressed Jakarta KPw BI Head, Arlyana Abubakar, Friday (5/9).

Based on the latest data, the transaction volume of QRIS in Q1 2025 also crawled to 907 million, growing by 166 percent (year-on-year). This was driven, among other factors, by strengthening on the supply side, along with the increasing acceptance of QRIS by business actors, which reached 6 million, growing by 14 percent (year-on-year).

He explained the digitalization of the transportation sector will also be strengthened with the implementation of the QRIS Tap (Contactless) feature, launched on March 14, 2025.

"This will enhance payment efficiency in the transportation sector and encourage broader digital transformation to strengthen Jakarta's competitiveness as a global city," he explained.

He added the next stage of the QRIS Tap implementation will be expanded to all MRT stations, Transjakarta, LRT Jakarta, and LRT Jabodebek, as well as KRL routes in the Greatee Jakarta and Yogyakarta-Solo, which will continuously expand acceptance at other merchants.

"Besides QRIS, the growing digital payment ecosystem is also reflected in the use of electronic money and shopping through e-commerce, which has seen an increase," he stated.
